PAML MOCK ELECTION:  All PAML students are invited to vote on Tuesday, November 8th.  The ballot that students will be using is similar to what Morristown voters will use.  Students will be asked to “check in” using our PAML voter checklist and “check out” after voting much like what happens during voting at the town offices.  Democracy works best when there is active participation!

KIDS AGAINST TOBACCO FIELD TRIP:  Mr. Hathaway will be taking a couple of middle level students to the Lake Morey Inn in Fairlee, VT for this training presentation on Wednesday, November 9th.  Students will depart at 8:00am and return at 4:30pm.  Please be prepared to pick  your student up at PAML at 4:30pm.

NO SCHOOL ON FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 11TH:  In observance of Veterans Day.

ODWP TESTING:  PAML will administer the On Demand Writing Prompt (ODWP) test for grades 5-6-7-8 on Tuesday, November 15th.

MANDATORY WINTER SPORTS MEETING:  The Mandatory Winter Sports Student & Parent Meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 22nd, at 5:30pm in the auditorium.  This meeting will be for students who wish to register for basketball and cross country skiing.

8TH GRADE TOUR OF GMTCC:  Jessica Dambach, PAML Guidance Counselor, will be taking PAML’s 8th grade class to Green Mountain Technology & Career Center (GMTCC) in Hyde Park on Tuesday, November 22nd, from 8:45am-12:15pm for a tour of GMTCC technical programs available to them when they enter high school.  Students will return to PAML in time for lunch.

SAVE THIS DATE!  A World of Difference presentation will be held for parents to learn their role in helping to prevent name calling, bullying and cyberbullying on Tuesday, November 29th, 5:30-7:00pm in the PA Library.  Parents will explore the ways in which this training program empowers young people through peer-to-peer education to facilitate positive social change in their school community, and identify strategies for parents to support their children’s efforts to actively promote an inclusive school community in which all individuals are respected and valued.

TOYS FOR TOTS:  Now through Monday, December 12th, PAML will be collecting new, unwrapped toys and stocking stuffers for children around Lamoille County.  Please bring your donations to the box located in the PAML Lobby no later than December 12th.  Last year they were able to distribute toys to 353 children in our area.  (Some examples of items needed are socks, hair accessories for girls, Matchbox cars and card games)

PAML Goes to Montpelier!

Dylan Haskins and Meghan Kimball
We are very excited to have two of our 8th grade PAML students, Dylan Haskins and Meghan Kimball, selected to be pages this year with the Vermont Legislative Page Program.

Each year a small group of young Vermonters are selected to work as Legislative pages in the Vermont State House.  "Pages deliver messages for the members of the Senate, the House of Representatives and the various Legislative offices.  Serving as a page offers unique opportunities to observe the workings of the legislature and to witness firsthand the often historic events in Montpelier.  Many Vermont politicians, including members of the current Legislature, got their start working as pages."  Dylan and Megan will each be in Montpelier, both at different times, 4 days a week for 6 weeks.  We are excited about the prospect of connecting with them to see what their work entails. Please congratulate Meghan and Dylan should you see them!
