Prevention Day at the Capitol
On Wednesday, January 28, 2015, five Middle Level and two High School students were invited to participate in Prevention Day at our State Capital. This is an event that happens one time a year and is attended by Vermont Schools. The event is a way for students to meet and discuss their prevention efforts (prevention of alcohol and other drugs among youth) with Legislators. This years topic was marijuana legalization. Students staffed the "Card room" and talked with Legislators as the came through. Students had time for a tour of the statehouse and a half hour lunch meeting with Speaker of the House Shap Smith and Legislator Avram Patt. Shap was very interested in what the students thought about marijuana use.
